just over a month ago we were going to have our embroidery meeting and suddenly we were in
lockdown 4 stay at home. How many were taken by surprise at the swiftness of
the lockdown and were you prepared for a lengthy stay at home event?</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLYLAwdKF0VqQmyJwRAifWpNYWZYtsyousnkV59UI3JD920QRMxyE-Ko-bicPi93DF8TXcMxp1lwQmoG9t43SHcBn2IwexeStZdijiRDPctDeGH7trOEdVauVRTbQTEo_wWPwXPBI8EQ4/s2048/2021+blog+28sep+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLYLAwdKF0VqQmyJwRAifWpNYWZYtsyousnkV59UI3JD920QRMxyE-Ko-bicPi93DF8TXcMxp1lwQmoG9t43SHcBn2IwexeStZdijiRDPctDeGH7trOEdVauVRTbQTEo_wWPwXPBI8EQ4/w150-h200/2021+blog+28sep+%25282%2529.JPG" width="150" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQHoUwM8rSvR09fQhyxKD4eYRBxA5a5wVNcbILLLEl3IwHcuM-yEK5DA2xgIbhiiVwUCnYFxMoQ-Jz4A0zPy-Y3WVJLVevKCHM0O8sm70N19NOS519lUPsNKJR4rXdfcsYy9V-eY-5ogk/s2048/2021+blog+28sep+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; font-size: 11pt; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQHoUwM8rSvR09fQhyxKD4eYRBxA5a5wVNcbILLLEl3IwHcuM-yEK5DA2xgIbhiiVwUCnYFxMoQ-Jz4A0zPy-Y3WVJLVevKCHM0O8sm70N19NOS519lUPsNKJR4rXdfcsYy9V-eY-5ogk/w200-h150/2021+blog+28sep+%25283%2529.JPG" width="200" /></a></div></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hardanger Scissor case and needlebook - finished.</td></tr></tbody></table>My
stitching was certainly taken by surprise. It sat up, looked at me and said you
have time, stitch me now. Unfortunately, it did not happen. I did finish a
couple of small items, stitched the remainder of my guild project "Wessex Sampler", (thought
about the finishing and decided I didn’t quite know what I was doing), sewed
more masks and wheat bags as well as a stitch bob for myself. Magazines were
reviewed with some since Level 3 finding a new home as life has opened up. I even
managed to complete about three days of card making which used a bit more of
the stash and was a relaxing way to have a three day weekend.</span></p>

I have been back at school, the mystery sampler has been looking at me and I
have been busy stitching, changing the stitches and sorting out the colours.
The power of the black and white photo is great when looking at tonal variety.
It has been interesting to view the many finished ones online, and hopefully at
the next conference we should have a great display. Many are finishing them as
a bag pocket or cushion which is totally suitable.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCVPijjxJpb_FY1eDESW5kse_3qrvJ6BC42bjosGrdxk31rQqtxI8DKb9nr4v_JUSuOGFGMEeU4qnr5PZylUOE1eDwiwlma3Vh3v_wDWSoEWhrHF7o88UJEqMZb53ekTHZzQMTVAtKkk4/s2048/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCVPijjxJpb_FY1eDESW5kse_3qrvJ6BC42bjosGrdxk31rQqtxI8DKb9nr4v_JUSuOGFGMEeU4qnr5PZylUOE1eDwiwlma3Vh3v_wDWSoEWhrHF7o88UJEqMZb53ekTHZzQMTVAtKkk4/w200-h150/001.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Project bag - partially made from recycled laundry bag.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table>Another thing i have been trying to improve is my sewing skills and making project bags. <p class="MsoNormal"><i><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">“It
is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or
tedious” Oscar Wilde.</span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">Some
days my stitching is in the same frame. It is neither good nor bad, but I am
charmed by the development and thoughts that happen as I stitch (currently on
the ANZEG mystery sampler which is having a lot of stitch development in my case)
or I find that the pattern or colour is tedious and I want to get this out of the
way.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">I
have just finished a hardanger scissor case and needlebook and I realised why I
have not done large scale hardanger projects. The buttonhole edge drove me nuts
and I could only do one thread at a time. This for me was some tedious
stitching but others find it charming. How are you viewing your stitching this
month?</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;"><i>I will find time later this month to post pictures of the completed stitching and also the Wessex needlebook that our guild is creating. I am slightly behind but getting there.</i></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;"><i><br /></i></span></p>Didi-beadworkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06094269378825703474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5380297930018264707.post-77196324517890023002021-06-28T03:26:00.000+01:002021-06-28T03:26:05.248+01:00Winter is upon us now!<p>The advent of winter in Stratford has brought with it some
cold temperatures as the autumn season left with lots of rain. We have had
several drops of snow on Egmont and this has come and gone with the changing
from warm rain to cold nights. Last week the super blood moon was something I
was going to watch but ended up sleeping through the time and missing it
completely. We were exceptionally lucky to have very clear skies and seeing the
reports from the night sky reserve in the South Island the sight would have
been stunning.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>

plans for stitching longer than the hours I have to stitch. I have started the
ANZEG mystery stitch along and using stash threads and enhancing it with other
stitches as only I can do. This has been fun to see what others are using on the dedicated facebook group. At the recent regional stitch day it was cool to see a number of members stitching theirs.<div>I have managed to stitch quite a bit in May and have started areas that belong to month 2 and 3.</div><div><br /></div><div>The guild Wessex project is coming along and I am almost up to date but our pieces are going to the display at the Biennial Conference weekend in Wellington.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><br /><o:p></o:p><p></p>

As commented by a
visitor to the Americas Cup on TV last week, it is hard to believe that where he
was from no one was out with anyone else but after several days he felt that the
NZ normal was great.<o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>Watching coverage of the America’s Cup races and the crowds
along the waterfront, New Zealand vs Pakistan or West Indies cricket, walking
through Pukekura Park with thousands of others it really is hard to believe
that the rest of the world does not have the same normal as we do any longer? Are
we special or just lucky in that our distance, size of population and the fact
that we locked our country down early, has given rise to this near normal state
of affairs for our country. I attended a wedding with over 100 people and not a
mask in sight. I have been following friends who have been touring the country
this holiday break and they have been at cricket matches, dining in
restaurants, playing the tourist at beaches and other attractions with others
who are not in the bubble. I visited MOTAT last week and although not crowded
it was still an almost normal visit aside from the sanitizer and Covid app sign
in.<o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i>Even my online watching has become a bit isolated. Many regular
blog writers, Facebook posters or instagrammers are all commenting on how the Covid
state of affairs is affecting them. They are finding new hobbies, directions to
take their creativity, waiting for numerous parcels to arrive with purchases
because they cannot drive to the shop to choose a thread or fabric in person.</i></p><p class="MsoNormal"><i>I am finding that my new normal for projects is looking at what I have and trying to use something up. I did this last year for the Peppermint Purple SAL. I used a piece of hardanger fabric and threads purchased in 2016 and 2000. The final item was made from material I already had except for the outside piece which I purchased especially. That fabric is now being used by my sister for her Japanese quilt.</i></p><p class="MsoNormal"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFdsBBVdL16kMdiDHWOnKGqPlZFfaN0AxKCud_90cESE2zy0zOE3La_9EgaBeas1E8MWKDknMqRa6koxi5NJwfJItixlcVB4oWDzlmzlMZXuh3IRgEH1jmA55QVcTNY_MOhGDy6qlhIIY/s2048/PP+SAL+2020+%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFdsBBVdL16kMdiDHWOnKGqPlZFfaN0AxKCud_90cESE2zy0zOE3La_9EgaBeas1E8MWKDknMqRa6koxi5NJwfJItixlcVB4oWDzlmzlMZXuh3IRgEH1jmA55QVcTNY_MOhGDy6qlhIIY/s320/PP+SAL+2020+%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Inside fabric and border fabrics were from the stash as was the wadding and calico.<p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDtrNBrbapNIvZjp2jL-RsYum7h7HtB61bou8aizgSV82hrefWsA7QnquCEudZoMnINhfPvPqlnwz0W3iY18XkkXpJjOirlnS7CoktXOHfsF1lJuu-WEW0BAT5aEcREdYBRRJYBuLlKGA/s2048/PP+SAL+2020+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDtrNBrbapNIvZjp2jL-RsYum7h7HtB61bou8aizgSV82hrefWsA7QnquCEudZoMnINhfPvPqlnwz0W3iY18XkkXpJjOirlnS7CoktXOHfsF1lJuu-WEW0BAT5aEcREdYBRRJYBuLlKGA/w150-h200/PP+SAL+2020+%25282%2529.JPG" width="150" /></a></div>Finished Peppermint Purple SAL 2020. <br />Quote is from Eeyore.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGeRIw6pFjjxh8ugW9sgX6w02lv8JDjeuKI6lqVcR8b-9xixECeNXTlv79sVc3_AiCQkZRDO2cuN0u6_aDJJBfCRbEqyjkDROlDFuvA6XpRkazsEiXqZJ4KPfNmx-_La-9EK7XYirw2Fg/s2048/PP+SAL+2020+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGeRIw6pFjjxh8ugW9sgX6w02lv8JDjeuKI6lqVcR8b-9xixECeNXTlv79sVc3_AiCQkZRDO2cuN0u6_aDJJBfCRbEqyjkDROlDFuvA6XpRkazsEiXqZJ4KPfNmx-_La-9EK7XYirw2Fg/w150-h200/PP+SAL+2020+%25283%2529.JPG" width="150" /></a><br /></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back fabric - bought for the project<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Our guild project for this year is going to be Wessex embroidery. Enjoyed the summer sun at the Chelsea sugar factory cafe for brunch and having a doughnut for afternoon tea today. Relaxing is great when you have a good book, bit of embroidery and a friend to share it with including cups of tea and coffee. We have semi binge watched Bridgerton which was great. I have read the books and they are really fun.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEeVpziDLpRBKvkGldNlwXspHxBzip8UaRxgxyQAJXOZfjgDg2GG_ViG8UpqA6_lAb61IotaZd4yF7YwQCpZGcacaip5lCxVeiqS_pPKxuo-Rj5QF0Uj306uevgBaswHygFLH-PFaJLZc/s2048/E5CD0570-96A2-4785-B86C-E1255550D348.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEeVpziDLpRBKvkGldNlwXspHxBzip8UaRxgxyQAJXOZfjgDg2GG_ViG8UpqA6_lAb61IotaZd4yF7YwQCpZGcacaip5lCxVeiqS_pPKxuo-Rj5QF0Uj306uevgBaswHygFLH-PFaJLZc/w150-h200/E5CD0570-96A2-4785-B86C-E1255550D348.jpeg" width="150" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwIFxZHn6aNG1daMt7ZqbpC8j4HmGn0KfeE_pHzAUB-UOkrDI3gi40Br7p7EF96NeJzFn_Oq3vYF85D-Au5Jgiu-ugiRaPA2yEumSOjcjHQ8hfbVzCQKNvbaR-q9VQO6fEGq9f3jXgzoE/s2048/D219BCFF-1675-45DE-9070-1045E4775F72.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwIFxZHn6aNG1daMt7ZqbpC8j4HmGn0KfeE_pHzAUB-UOkrDI3gi40Br7p7EF96NeJzFn_Oq3vYF85D-Au5Jgiu-ugiRaPA2yEumSOjcjHQ8hfbVzCQKNvbaR-q9VQO6fEGq9f3jXgzoE/w150-h200/D219BCFF-1675-45DE-9070-1045E4775F72.jpeg" width="150" /> </a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9jH6cIEqzd8RTZ3xsyHeGs9i-F6PdiFuwaKmYp9MpVEKTaMJUWlGSN-w9cNlDANR_gTdjWlDoxKTFN65spbIUZwa-RhWzWG8WuKlNMY4kh48viK48H2KxoJ2Ufudv6cuT50ZLjdDw9rc/s2048/447CABC1-EADA-4533-AC33-18757ED48354.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9jH6cIEqzd8RTZ3xsyHeGs9i-F6PdiFuwaKmYp9MpVEKTaMJUWlGSN-w9cNlDANR_gTdjWlDoxKTFN65spbIUZwa-RhWzWG8WuKlNMY4kh48viK48H2KxoJ2Ufudv6cuT50ZLjdDw9rc/w157-h200/447CABC1-EADA-4533-AC33-18757ED48354.jpeg" width="157" /> </a></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmNeF9vGixjUIN6gI_vZ0ospJBPhqE6ZRygYzyApRzUFC0TjWGouBEW86vBwR2Z2o4_xc2cgVFtqrwOPaWEJbZllHZFTuQon6qhcHIvKRJts-vDnhzVBcW7vRIFskes2SGQwajfNgP1Xg/s2048/4C6F2511-6B55-418B-A212-0E59D91EEA9C.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmNeF9vGixjUIN6gI_vZ0ospJBPhqE6ZRygYzyApRzUFC0TjWGouBEW86vBwR2Z2o4_xc2cgVFtqrwOPaWEJbZllHZFTuQon6qhcHIvKRJts-vDnhzVBcW7vRIFskes2SGQwajfNgP1Xg/w200-h150/4C6F2511-6B55-418B-A212-0E59D91EEA9C.jpeg" width="200" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lunch at Mokau. </td></tr></tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Oakura beach </td></tr></tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgejd0gn_M0QrxjB1oiJ3NObuUj3jsCNv-N_Eq1ZqMlq-waRaqpKkiq7VPfgpWe8k4HvtoIyZRxpQ3kSRJl9zGQwIyg_Msvt9f3pZdw-W2ohkmM6cTnb0zmB5kmOgHAjkVFegrcQqfOGPE/s2048/00D4BB2A-AE7F-4BE3-98B8-F62BD1074093.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgejd0gn_M0QrxjB1oiJ3NObuUj3jsCNv-N_Eq1ZqMlq-waRaqpKkiq7VPfgpWe8k4HvtoIyZRxpQ3kSRJl9zGQwIyg_Msvt9f3pZdw-W2ohkmM6cTnb0zmB5kmOgHAjkVFegrcQqfOGPE/s320/00D4BB2A-AE7F-4BE3-98B8-F62BD1074093.jpeg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lunch at Chelsea sugar factory. </td></tr></tbody></table><br /></div>Didi-beadworkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06094269378825703474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5380297930018264707.post-62787455564089371082020-07-07T11:21:00.000+01:002020-07-11T04:24:44.212+01:00Pretend tropical vacationIt’s vacation time in a post COVID world. Stephanie and I were planning a summer vacation in winter so Port Douglas was the chosen spot as it usually has temps over 25 in July. Unfortunately with the post COVID closed borders and no international travel m6 passport received a slight shock and was taken for a walk around the house before being put back in its folder.<br />
Vacation planning had our flights to Aussie cancelled but not my flight to Auckland so I chose to visit and we have had a three day vacay; Cambridge one night, the Rotorua two nights. A visit to a friend Leah in Cambridge was lovely and onto Hobbiton the next morning. Arriving in Rotorua we checked in to our not adult only hotel, found our way downtown and booked tickets for the redwood tree walk. We wandered through the government gardens and drove out to the redwood forest as dusk came upon us, it was a magical experience with the lights and bridges and mystical felling being high in the trees. Dinner that evening was at an Indian restaurant in Eat Street.<br />

Tuesday 7 July: day three of the vacay had us sleeping in and breakfasting leisurely at the hotel. Shopping was the agenda item for the day so we visited the Central Mall and picked up the various items that we had on a list from Stephanie’s Mum. A drive down to the lake front and a very short walk along the board walk we found ourselves by the Lakeland Queen paddle steamer. A chance discovery found that the cruise was going for an hours tour so we booked ourselves on it and filled in the next hour by driving past the government building to Sulfer Point lookout, a walk and photo op at the buildings then back to the cruise. Thanks Ewan for lunch. Once back we decided to do the day walk through the trees but it was raining so carried onto the Blue Lake and lookout point to see the Green Lake. Back down to Rotorua the rain was heavier so picking up swimsuits we took ourselves to the Polynesian Spa for our Swim. A luxurious hour or more passed in the different pools as we felt ourselves relax. Back to the hotel for a short rest, vacationing is Very tiring we braved Eat Street once again to try El Mexicano Zapata, which was delightful. Rather larger portion sizes than we expected we left by waddling out the door and home to rest and have a reasonable early night.<br />

What a different world it was when I wrote this on getting back to NZ in January. Posting date July 6, 2020.<br />
<br />
<br />
Our final days were spent in Hong Kong which was an experience. Smallest hotel room ever but on the 21st floor. Lots of fun travelling on a great subway system, finding ourselves on the big bus tour before we had even thought about it, going up Mt Victoria and nearly being blown away, walking up to see the giant Buddha as well as travelling back on the local bus and seeing more of the Various islands. Lots of native forest and walks that could happen. The sheer size of the buildings, number of people, in various places, juxtaposition of high end shopping with barely basic markets and Mum and dad stores. The fact that the high rise buildings had stores all around the bottom and there were 20 of the same in the one block. The goldfish market we were told about was stunning. Trying dim sum at a restaurant where no one spoke English and Hong Kong Disney where the ride “It’s a small world” was closed.<br />
These are the final days of another amazing trip to the uk with Stephanie and meeting friends and family once again. Hoping to do it all again in four years.Didi-beadworkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06094269378825703474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5380297930018264707.post-9667324504750536272020-01-11T11:37:00.003+00:002020-01-11T11:37:51.005+00:00Onto Lisbon and Portugal <div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">11 January last day in Lisbon so both up early and after breakfast went for a walk around to check out last minute shopping. Nothing open so missed the opportunity. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">10 January. Decided on later start and breakfast was depleted. Caught the 28 tram to the end of the line then wandered around finding the walls and castle of San Jorge. Finally made our way to the entrance and decided would not go in but went up the church tower to see amazing views. More wandering past castle walls and we eventually were back at the hotel. After a cuppa we set off for the museum of contemporary art. Well we were amazed but the Sarah Affroso exhibition was interesting. More following our noses and we found amorino for an ice cream stop. Onto the queue for the Santa Justa Elevador and an hour later we were up the top. Spectacular views and we could just see the moon rising. We raced down to the waterfront and took photos of the sunset and rising moon. Back to the hotel and a decision to go back to the same restaurant for dinner. We tried the goat cheese, honey and walnuts, then the asparagus risotto for main. Delicisio. More taking in the sights and a stop in Ale-Hop (chain store). Back to the hotel and packing commenced. We had not bought as much as expected. A late night as both reading.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">All in all our Lisbon passes were worth it but so many museums and very specific in lots of ways. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 22.7px;">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">9 January. An early start and a walk to Rossi station to catch the train to Sintra. We were earlier than expected. Started our Lisboa card at 9.00. An interesting train trip thru the burbs to Sintra and accosted at station by all the tour guides. Found the bus ticket and hoped on the bus to Pena Palace. Inspiring colours and tiny rooms this was restored by a former king. The outside is almost as colourful as the inside. Fog ruined the views. Onto the bus again to Sintra village was next stop. We went through the national palace and it was a very well organised space but funny with every room a different floor level and ceiling height. Next tourist stop was the Sintra myths and legends which was an automatic GPS activated story through five levels of the building. Interesting also. A lunch stop of baguette, milk tarts and coffee. Bus back to station then train to town. On our way back we stopped at dama e vagabond (lady & the tramp) for dinner. An early night was called for. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 22.7px;">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">8 January: today was our booked trip so a walk to the Hard Rock Cafe was the start. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Batalha is a church site. Built for the memory of the war against Spain over 200 years ago. Very plain church, a unesco site but unfinished towers on part of the building. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Nazere was lunch stop. Famous for giant waves, fusing in the past and an old legend linking to Virgin Mary. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Next stop was obidos a walled city and UNESCO city of literature. It was also to try ginja the national liquor. An amazing walk around more cobbled streets and tiny shops and houses. The fog hit as we left so the pleasant views were misted out. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Once back in Lisbon we went to have gelato and coffee in the plaza Comércio. A good dinner. </span></div>
<div class="p3" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 25px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 3px;">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">13 May 1917 to three shepherds saw Virgin Mary. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Tour with Miguel. Have a great history of Portugal and Fatima shrine. Was an expansive place but felt very divorced from the miracle of the vision. Found cheap coffee and nice coffee cloth to buy. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 22.7px;">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">7 January first day Lisbon card. We got started with riding the tram the wrong way but that was okay and eventually got to Belém where we wandered past the modern art gallery and along the foreshore you Belém tower. We went in as it was free with our pass. A stunning place it must have been. Along the foreshore and we found the monastery of Jerome was our next free stop. Well organised tour. Along to the archeology museum as part of our ticket. Lunch was pastries and cod cakes at the pastries de Belém. Pilar 7 was the next stop about building the suspension bridge and a great view from the top of the elevator. Back to town, did the Lisbon story and dinner of kebabs. A good day and great use of our time. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 22.7px;">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">7 January: a hard nights sleep as the bed is not that comfy for me. A nice breakfast in the hotel and then off to the comercio plaza to catch the tram to Belem but unfortunately we went the wrong way first. Still a good use for our Lisboa ticket. Got to be</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">

<span class="s1">6 January: breakfast at the Gatwick hotel then over to catch our flight which was delayed about an hour. Arrived Lisbon, collected bags and got a Uber to our hotel. <span class="s1">5 January: up early and packed. Watched Sanditon with Stephanie and Virginia while Luke and Mark were at his rugby training. Macaroni for lunch and then Mark took us to the hotel at Gatwick. Had a small dinner in the hotel and a repackaging to take only two suitcases with us. </span></div>

<span class="s1">4 January: early start for Stephanie to return the car. We walked into town again and did shopping then after lunch we went to Walmer castle. An interesting space as it was all circular. Interesting gardens used by the queen mother. A drive along to Deal and we walked out to the end of the pier and had coffee while in Deal. Home to pack. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 22.7px;">

<span class="s1">3 January; walked to town with Holly and Ayo to see canterbury tales. It was really good and funny. Had cream tea at tiny Tim’s tea shop with princess Charlotte and prince Louis teas. Walked to view the cathedral to view. Then home to go out for lunch at Chilham but the wool pack was booked out. Had a walk around and then drove to the Granville in lower Hadres. </span></div>

<span class="s1">2 January: visited Scotney Castle. A delightful place with a ruined castle in the grounds.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Bodiam Castle was next on the tour and this castle was destroyed but left as a shell. Rye was the next destination and it was lovely to walk around. Went into the church and also the lookout. Weather was good but still couldn’t see France. Home again and nachos for tea. An earlish night. </span></div>

<span class="s1">1 January: visited Dover for a walk along the cliffs but too wet. Want to the castle which was a good trip once again. We watched the fog roll in and completely cover us in. Dinner was hotpot and veges. An earlier night which was good. </span></div>

London visit and the new year celebrations in Canterbury. </div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">31 December: </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Went down to the Tate Modern to meet Erin and friends as a last farewell. We had to meet Holly and Ayo about 1pm at Victoria bus station but we were late and they were later. Stephanie and I had time to walk around the station and shops until they arrived and we had a late lunch. Onto the bus and a dark ride to Canterbury where we were met by Mark. A good evening followed with dinner, then Christmas parcels for those who missed out earlier. The kids got out the Nintendo and we all had a go at the dance competition. Unfortunately we were mostly hopeless but hilarity ensued. We then watched the London fireworks and departed for bed.</span><br />
<span class="s1"><br /></span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">30 January: Travelled by train to Windsor with a stop at Paddington station and change trains at Slough. A long wait to vidd SSD it the castle but it was worth it in the end. We went through the chapel and it was amazing. The old apartments and the reconstruction of the destroyed areas was startling. It is so good that it had been redone. Hopefully Notre dame will be the same. We met for lunch with David at a pub and a walk down the long walk to enjoy the sunshine. Back to London, then it was time to meet holly and ayo for dinner then night bus tour. This was really good and we had an entertaining guide on the bus. Walk through Leicester square, m and m shop and back to hotel. This was a really late night. </span><br />
<span class="s1"><br /></span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">29 January: the bags arrived. Woo hoo, fresh clothing and Erin able to get sorted with things for Stephanie. We set off after breakfast to get to Trafalgar Square and walk up the Mall towards Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard. Found a spot on the Victoria statue and watched as the guard went along the road to Clarence House and St James Palace as well. It was cool to see the horses go off too. Afterwards we walked down to Westminster and I left the girls to go to Southwark for lunch with Tina, Jill and Liz. So much fun was had with catching up and finding out what all had been up to in the intervening years. Finally left about five and walked back to the hotel to meet Erin and Stephanie where they wondered where I had got to. Erins friends Maggie and Siobhan met us in the hotel after we walked to the other side of St Paul’s and we found a local pub called the Punch for dinner. Erin left to go with the girls so they could get settled for the next few nights. An earliest night and a good sleep.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">28 January:a good start to the day with wonderful shower and still no bags. After breakfast got the bus and train over to south Kensington. Did the walk along to Egerton Gardens where Erin’s dad used to live in the 1980’s. Along to Harrods and a complete circuit to find the ira memorial. Into Harrods to view the usual food hall and no sale bargains. Looked all over the shop and did get a little bag as a memento. Lunch at the Paxton then a walk along rotten Row to the Albert Memorial and Albert hall. Could not get in to see the card exhibition as fully booked. Caught a bus around Hyde park corner and onto fortnum and Mason. Saw more Christmas lights and other highlights to point out to Erin. Walked home via Somerset house which had a fortnum’s shop in it and skating. Dumped out parcels and back out again to visit Covent Garden where we went to Carluccis for dinner. Back to the hotel to enquire about the bags. </span><br />

<span class="s1">Trying a couple more days of posting. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">27 January: an early start but we should have been earlier. Could not find the petrol station and a wrong turn later we were rushing to check in and get to the gate. Boarded the flight easily but discovered when we got to London no luggage. Took an Uber to the hotel and our driver was most informative. Went past areas that when I lived in London you would not have wanted to be near. Met Stephanie and Virginia as we were checking in. </span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 19px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1">Decided as it was a good day the we would walk across the London bridge and along waterfront to the shard. I wanted to take Erin up there. It was really good views so pleased we did that. Met the girls at the bottom and tried pastries from the bakery. Very yummy. A tube ride to bond street and oxford street was at our feet. Visited selfridges, M&S as well as a few other shops. Along regent street to the end and piccadilly was next stop. The obligatory photos and onto Leicester square. By this time hunger was starting and we found Garfunkel’s where we all chose fish and chips for Friday night tea. A bus then walk back to the hotel. No luggage yet. </span></div>

<span class="s1">26 January: Black Forest trifle for dinner today then all into the car for a drive past the farm and Abbey St Bathans. Saw Joy Dobie at the carol service and her children are lovely. Our drive ended up in Eyemouth for a walk but no ice cream. Not as cold as the time came with Stephanie. The sea was very calm and there seemed to be a few people around for holiday time. Upstairs after tea to pack and make arrangements for the morning. </span></div>

<span class="s1">Christmas Day: had a stocking from Santa outside our doors this morning. Breakfast was porridge again which I didn’t have any sugar on. Erin and I opened our stockings after breakfast. I have a lovely apron made from thistle fabric. We smartened up and got dinner preparations on the way including googling a recipe for chestnuts and Brussel sprouts. That was my department and it was very tasty if I say so myself. Gillian and George arrived about midday with lots of exciting items as they wandered past the window. Lunch was pork roast with accompanying veges and served in the dining room again. After pudding we retired to the lounge for a second lot of parcels. Watt received a set of golf clubs for him to use in his retirement. Visitors left about five and we had a quick tea and tried to convince watt to watch the news. Another family Christmas.</span></div>

One of my aims this year was to blog at least once a month but I find that a third of the year has gone and nothing written. It's been a busy start to the year with my brother and his wife visiting for my dad's birthday and a celebration weekend in Wellington. It was really fun and we had a wonderful time with them here and they had a great trip down the south island for his 60th birthday.<br />

Stitching has been continuing and a new project has come along but more on that later. Night class is still going and we are doing a tiny tin of treasures project this term hopefully. Some photos of that are here:<br />

Next project on the go is the piece for Taranaki Creative Stitchers: I was given Kenya as my county but quite a difficult one. There is no definite style of embroidery or stitching (only ndebele beading stitch could be called african) so I am exploring the african aesthetic and hopefully will produce a piece for the october exhibition. As part of this process I have been doing some machine embroidery and made this couple of birthday cards which I will sell or use. I have also been making some christmas decorations using a similar technique so once they are finished they will get photographed. If successful I will make a few for the end of year Percys Place shop.<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Card making has also been featuring and a neighbour is hosting the occasional afternoon of card making so I am taking advantage and going. I then come home and use a bit more of the card/Stampin Up stash so here are some that I have created (tiny gift cards) for Mackays Pharmacy to sell. Its been a great way to use up some of the stash and I am trying to do more.</div>

This is the start of the next project. Our guild is having a Casalguidi workshop in June and the preparation foundation needs to be stitched first. The colour is looking grey but it is very similar to DMC 504 colour so that will be fun.<br />

Well that's the catch up and here's to a term two with a principal who is on sabbatical and an open evening that is not too far away and no organising started. It has been several months since I have posted but I have been updating photos on my instagram account. In October I attended the Inpsirations sponsored stitching retreat "Beating Around The Bush" for the 10th Anniversary, with my sister. This was a fabulous week of three stitching classes - whitework with Jenny Adin-Christie, beading with Hazel Blomkamp and crewel embroidery with Margaret Light. I will endeavour to put photos of my work on here.<br />

the whole experience was loads of fun and I really enjoyed meeting some teachers that i have read about and also discovering another aussie city in a new light. We went to the South Australian guild rooms and it would have been great to have had longer as it was so much to see.<br />
<div>
Stephanie came over to join us for three days so we had fun driving around, visited barossa valley and Maggie Beer's farm and got the photo as well.<br />

Its been a busy few months and I have taken to working with felt for some of the time. A friend made the most delightful bookmark with a ladybird for me so I have taken this to a whole new level and created several for sale. These are at Percy's Place in Stratford or Eltham Honey as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

These crosses were created for a friend who is visiting South Africa and wants small gifts to take with her. I am sure the recipients will be delighted and will use them every day.<br />

Bumblebees - did you know they are in short supply and one of my best friends has a honey business "Eltham Honey". These are for her to sell or keep, whichever she wants.<br />
<br />
Mickey Mouse, the Owl, Cup of tea and hearts have all been done as presents for friends and family so I have the patterns and can create more as I go.<br />
<br />
I have found a new way of stitching on felt and it is really neat and makes a nice edge. I also put a stiff lining so they should keep their shape for a while.<br />

Next finish after 18 months is the Laura Perin Christmas Wreath. This is stitched using my stash threads and it has been loads of fun. I am hoping to mount it in a circle as a wreath that I can bring out each year. Hoping to get it finished in time for the November Art Society exhibition.</div>

We have collected a number of these small bags from Air New Zealand over the years and I have been using them as small project bags. I saw a bigger one decorated in the style of Sue Spargo, so thought I would have a go. Here is the first bird one with pieces stitched and pinned ready to go. I am now ready to finish this one and will post it when done.</div>

My last lot of crafting this month has been making some cards as I did not have any left. I needed a sympathy card and Jessica (from inkitupwithjessica.com) had a card which inspired me. I cut ten cards using purple and green card stock from my stash (so not the same colours as Jessica's) but go together okay. I used one of my favourite stamp sets for the flowers and also sassy saluatations for a couple. The top left card is from Jessica's web blog so I hope that she likes what I have done. I still have about five sets cut out to do but will make them another day.<br />

Anyway - one day left of the holiday break then a public holiday and back to work. My week off has become three days this holidays, but I have had time with friends and family so that has been good.</div>

I am hoping that I can post a picture of my two pairs of fairy shoes. My night class group started to make these earlier in the year and I have finished both these pairs with another pair still to make.Didi-beadworkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06094269378825703474noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5380297930018264707.post-19101883169676323082017-07-15T21:41:00.000+01:002017-07-15T21:41:55.870+01:00Last days at Disneyland. Thursday second to last day so we decided that today would be mostly Disneyland. We had a breakfast date with Minnie and friends so the Inn was our first stop and we were seated in a nice table on the balcony. It was good as we were outside and could see lots. All the characters came by and we gots lots of photos, but no Mickey or Donald. We did finally get one with Minnie. Had mickey waffles as well as tried out grits and other foods. After brunch we then went back to tomorrowland and did some more rides again. Decided rather late in the day that we needed to get a photo pass as our brekkie photo was great. Got all our others loaded as we paid for a week. Then spent the afternoon and evening looking for photo opportunities. It was fun and we got a few more.<br />
<div>
Stayed late so we could see the fireworks and laser show so got a reasonable position. Watched the light parade again, did our final magic kingdom shopping and got home late ready to pack. </div>
<div>
Friday; last day. Our last breakfast so enjoyed it immensely and took our leftover food to a homeless person. Got ourselves packed, decided we had more room for shopping and headed off to California adventure for last pins, time at the midway for more toys and cars ride again. Had a late lunch at the Mexican and it was delicious. Sonia had not been there so that was great that we tried it out. We were early back to wait for our shuttle so enjoyed the time reading and stitching. Another longish trip to the airport and we were lucky to checkin and be first in the security queue so time for candy shopping. </div>

<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">Day four: laundry day again so we ate breakfast while we washed. A short walk to California adventure and did monsters inc and Hollywood drive. We wandered by bugs life into Radiator Springs.</span><span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">Luigi was dancing as Mater ride was too long a wait. Lunch followed at the diner. Cars land ride was next and it was cool. We got a fast pass for Soaring again and then onto Ariel's grotto. We did toy story and the shooting was fun. I remember doing this with mum on my first visit. We played the midway games and I have a dumbo to bring home. Back to soaring and then across to Disneyland.</span><span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;"> </span></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Waiting in line for Cars Land races.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; margin-top: 9px;">
<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;"></span></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">Back </span><span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">at Disneyland we did Peter Pan again (Sonia's favourite) and Thunder Road Railway. We had some dinner at a Main Street, grilled cheese and soup then I did Astro blasters. The weather was packing in a bit so we decided to walk home and not wait for the fireworks. On the way home we went to see all the hotel gift shops. It was fun. Once home I saw some of the fireworks over the Holiday Inn next door but hoping to see them tomorrow or Thursday nights.</span></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal; min-height: 22.7px;">
<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">Day five- Wednesday </span><span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">On our way into the park we got photos with Ariel and Donald Duck. Once at Toontown We did the Roger Rabbit and Gadget Go Coaster rides as well as have a wander around. We didn't stop for photos with Mickey and Minnie as the queues were over 30 minutes each. Back into fantasyland we wandered straight through to Star Tours for another adventure ride. It was full of snow, fighting and the swimming in the sea. Back out into California Adventure to book for Cars Land. While waiting we had lunch - in a Car lunchbox. Then another ride on mater's tractors onto the Frozen show which was great. Over to the midway to try our hand at winning games. Got a couple more soft toys to bring home which was fun. Dinner was at Ariel's Grotto so had the lobster tail and steak with soup starter and dessert plate to follow. Before dinner we went on the roller coaster "California Screaming" and I can say that I had my eyes closed. After dinner I made sonia go on the Ferris wheel and we had a lovely couple of companions which made it go fast.</span><span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;"> </span></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; margin-top: 9px;">

<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">Looking for a sweatshirt for Sonia we finally found one to buy for her. The world of colour light show was stunning and such a value event and worth waiting for even if we had to have our rain ponchos on as we got quite wet from the spray. </span></div>
<br />
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: '.SF UI Text'; font-size: 19px; line-height: normal;">
<span style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 19pt;">Another late night and then to bed for another start in the morning.</span></div>

It was loads of fun finding things all over the store and we got some cool things to bring home especially small items and some minion macaroni.<br />
Getting a taxi home again was interesting but fun. We have enjoyed the taxi service we have had. I am sure that we are paying to much but it has been great mostly. We got delivered to the park for the same fare so that was good and we headed into California adventure land for our day three experience. First stop was to book in for soaring and then we did a bit of lunching and had an amazing ice cream in a wonderful container. Will try and bring one home.<br />
After riding Soaring we wandered around the Bugs Life area and did all the rides which were quite fun. Then onto Maters tractor ride which was hilarious and that was about the end of our time as we had to be at New Orleans Square for dinner. Time to do a couple of rides in Fantasyland and buy some more Pandora beads we then headed into the Blue Bayou Restaruant for dinner. It was amazing. Afterwards we went on the pirates of the Caribbean again just because there was not queue and also the haunted mansion. Then a leisurely stroll and purchase of Christmas ornaments for Marilyn and mum to the end of Main Street and our preferred viewing seats for watching the light parade. An amazing end to the day.<br />
Photos will come tomorrow when I can put them on from the phone.<br />
<br />
Photo from day four. I am confused. Having trouble getting photos to blog.<br />

We started off earlish on Saturday morning and were grateful that we had done the mobility pass on the Friday night. This meant we could go stratight down Main Street, get our pass to Indiana Jones ride and go to the pirates. We walked stratight in and onto the ride. Just so fabulous and being refurbished with lots of changes for the new pirates movies. Next stop was the jungle cruise, then Haunted Mansion and we then went back to do Indiana jones but it was closed for a problem. They let us get another pass for thunder mountain. We did Spalsh Mountain and I was pretty good at not hiding too much. A gentle trip around Pooh Corner and Thunder Mountain saw the morning nearly over. Shopping stops along the way back to Indiana Jones to find it still wasn't open. We then decided it was Dole Icecream and the Tiki Room, then time for lunch so a turkey leg at New Orleans Square was the order of the day and onto Fantasy Land. Another pass for Peter Pans Flight we then did Toad of Toad Hall, Snow White, and Its a small world while we were waiting. We were back at the motel about 4.30 ready to go to the baseball.<br>
A great taxi ride and we were at Angels Stadium ready for the game of the century it was to play out. We found some food, our seats and settled into the evening. We had lovely neighbours that we both angels and twins fans so it was interesting and we cheered for all equally. Alberto Pujols was the star of the evening as he scored his career 600th home run and also had fully loaded bases when he did it. Only nine other players have 600 home runs so a special night. Due to this the game went until about 10.45 pm as we had fireworks to celebrate at the end as well. A long wait for our taxi home we finally got there about 11.30 so it was after midnight to get to bed.<br>
Sunday - a slow start including doing the washing and having the complimentary breakfast which was yummy.<br>
Back to the park and we found the entire concourse filled with people trying to get into California Avenue so we decided to hit Disneyland again and headed towards tomorrow land. Great organising we ended up with two passes to Star Tours but that was really fun as it was different each time. We blasted our way badly around Buzz Lightyear amidst lots of giggles and then went onto space mountain. This was great fun. We visited how to train a Jedi and had a salad for lunch. A much slower pace today as we interspered some shopping side trips event though we didn't buy much. After a really bad drive around Autotopia - we both would have failed our driving test we headed off to Storybookland and our next pass. Some more of the fantasyland rides were done, including Dumbo's elephants, Casey Jr railroad and the Carousel of course, unfortunately Mary Poppins had just got off. We traversed our way down Main Street, going via the Ice Cream Parlour for another ice cream. I had rainbow sherbet which was great. Out of the park and then to downtown Disney where we spent some time looking at goodies to buy. A further wander down and we headed home after 5.30 pm. A short stop to post my postcards we decided to stop at Mimi's for dinner. No half portions any longer but we had a drink and a meal each which we did finish. A slow walk home and we settled in for a night in to catch up with tidying up and writing. Sonia rang home to see if all was well. Watched a movie and had an early night.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnCDEDHasQfvel1q1Esc4UzutuEIIkYGtmTyWFY6TeeQU0x0wa5RCG-vU6KKYgLCobJ4gDRABP8bqWGzk0mqL1a56dIAKYqo3WZkzwg0eLQaiwK4f4mWuTXL1Xb-lQowctnLUhG1WFeks/s640/blogger-image-1909415341.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnCDEDHasQfvel1q1Esc4UzutuEIIkYGtmTyWFY6TeeQU0x0wa5RCG-vU6KKYgLCobJ4gDRABP8bqWGzk0mqL1a56dIAKYqo3WZkzwg0eLQaiwK4f4mWuTXL1Xb-lQowctnLUhG1WFeks/s640/blogger-image-1909415341.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs2uKTuEOCreawrfRIF8o5Yn4JhbsOlICDi4WVytkR-4NBDaVctwr4RNwmncHWJ3rlSREoDXdnRd1vztzSDGhK0QdRbwTuUOzBhHapGUCDJfMWmrlGJZtBR1mgj3TAb4XzwUA3-osB-xY/s640/blogger-image-1087838804.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs2uKTuEOCreawrfRIF8o5Yn4JhbsOlICDi4WVytkR-4NBDaVctwr4RNwmncHWJ3rlSREoDXdnRd1vztzSDGhK0QdRbwTuUOzBhHapGUCDJfMWmrlGJZtBR1mgj3TAb4XzwUA3-osB-xY/s640/blogger-image-1087838804.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwG5gnj1ZQ4lVVzqhKPsGQojaH6TctA2IZf_bzIq4EVLF23l1cxNFTg3ZR5KwraiUYFY3SJ6dUhkCK-tbaDJ7BmgLAoy5PqOs3HET81pp-L04-Xr5z-_V721jN4tg-MbRmLi6yEqY9vOQ/s640/blogger-image--505213941.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwG5gnj1ZQ4lVVzqhKPsGQojaH6TctA2IZf_bzIq4EVLF23l1cxNFTg3ZR5KwraiUYFY3SJ6dUhkCK-tbaDJ7BmgLAoy5PqOs3HET81pp-L04-Xr5z-_V721jN4tg-MbRmLi6yEqY9vOQ/s640/blogger-image--505213941.jpg"></a></div>Didi-beadworkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06094269378825703474noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5380297930018264707.post-71101751116029942162017-06-01T17:34:00.000+01:002017-06-01T17:39:35.500+01:00Off to visit DonaldSonia and I are off in less than 24 hours to visit with Donald Duck (that is not trump) although it will be interesting to see what is happening in the USA as this will be my first trip since he became president. I am all packed and the difference between summer and winter packing is enormous. No lots of layers, just one needed and all the clothes fitted into my carry on luggage. Amazing really. <br />

I have spent Sunday with a friend making her snappy bag and also finished one for mum. They contain a piece of embroidery which was done a couple of years ago. It was fun spending time with a friend and getting another project off my sewing room floor.<div>
Judy and I are making a plan for some more beading days, which will also be doing a piece of peyote picture stitching. It is a nativity scene for a bauble so will be interesting to get finished.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next piece of exciting news it's only six sleeps until Adele concert. Before that Stephanie and I will be going to see Much Ado About Nothing at the Pop-Up Globe. It will be so much fun as it is a while since I have seen Shakespeare performed. It will be fun. </div>
